Welcome to Oberlin Conservatory in Jordan!

In the winter of 2016, eight Oberlin Conservatory students will travel to Jordan to perform at Jordanian universities and secondary schools for music students, and learn from Jordanian students and professors. There will be two student groups - a classical trio, with flute, guitar, and violin, and a jazz quintet, with bass, drums, vibraphone, saxophone, and trumpet. This trip is officially sponsored by the U.S. Embassy as part of its cultural programming in Jordan.

Through the Embassy and other connections, we will be performing at the Amman Baccalaureate School; Amman Baptist School; International Amman Academy; the University of Jordan; and Zaha Cultural Center. In addition to these musical activities, our students will also travel and see some of the amazing sights in Jordan, such as the Dead Sea, the ancient ruins of Jerash, and of course, Petra, the ancient capitol of the Nabbateans.

This trip is led by Conservatory Assistant Dean Chris Jenkins, who spent time in Jordan in the past year.
